Mary Lynne Calkins - Ardent Motorcycle Racer and Career Attorney

An ardent motorcycle fan and racer, Mary Lynne Calkins, under her lifelong nickname "Molly Calkins," was the AMA Amateur Moto 3 National Champion in 2017. As an amateur and later expert racer with the Sinister Racing Team, she won multiple races on her Kawasaki Ninja 300, including Team Pro-Motion GPMoto races at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, New Jersey; at Pittsburgh International Race Complex in Wampum, Pennsylvania; and at Summit Point Motorsports Park in West Virginia. Although she has since retired from competitive racing, Mary Lynne Calkins still rides on the street and track. In her career as an attorney, Mary Lynne Calkins has over 25 years of experience in antitrust, consumer, and financial crimes law. On detail as Counsel to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) Legal Division's Financial Technology & Innovation Unit, she focused on the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering, and served on an interagency working group to help the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) draft new regulations under the Anti-Money Laundering Act of 2020 and Corporate Transparency Act. Her prior engagements include serving as Senior Counsel for the Export-Import Bank of the United States from 2018 to 2020, as Partner at the Akerman law firm from 2015 to 2018, and as an Enforcement Attorney for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau from 2011 to 2015. In line with her career and experience, Mary Lynne Calkins has authored published articles that have been cited in books and articles globally and assigned as reading in high-level academic courses. Her scholarly articles include "Censorship in Chinese Cinema," which analyzed censorship's strategic marketing utility in China's export commerce; and "Make Friends First, Certify Later: China and ISO 4000," which examined the mode and unlikelihood of China's compliance with international standards.
